Rayban

Founded in 1937 by US company Bausch and Lomb, Ray-Ban is famous for its sunglasses range. However, their optical range of frames was established 20 years ago and has proven very popular ever since.

Bausch and Lomb developed the Anti-Glare prototype, hence the name Ray-Ban and were worn by fighter pilots during WWII. Styles such as “Aviator” were designed to have a graduated lens to enable pilots to fly comfortably, looking into the sky around them whilst still being able to see the control panel clearly.

Other famous frame styles include “Wayfarer”, “Clubmaster” and the “Jackie Ohh”. Ray-Bans have been popularised by iconic figures of celebrity culture such as Audrey Hepburn, James Dean and Michael Jackson, with the most renowned example being Tom Cruise as Maverick in the film ‘Top Gun’.
