Sunglasses company Maui Jim was founded in 1987 by a fisherman from Maui in Hawaii and was further developed by a local boat captain. With nautical roots, the emphasis of the company is protecting the eyes from harmful UV and optimising vision while on the water. 

With the desire to bring their beautiful island colours to life, Maui Jim proudly boasts the latest in polarisation technology  cutting out 99.9% of  glare and enhancing the colours that your eyes naturally see, brightening everything rather then dimming it, enabling wearers to appreciate the amazing leafy greens and ocean blues which surround them.

Design features of Maui Jim sunglass frames include a script logo in gold or silver, a colour slash on nose pads or temple tips , or a repeated arrow pattern embedded into the acetate or engraved into the titanium frame, which is influenced by the native Hawaiian native cloth known as kapa. Elements of design proudly reflect the Hawaiian heritage of the brand.

In recent years the company has been adopted by a big eyewear conglomerate  Kering, who are known for fashion brands such as Gucci, YSL and Cartier, resulting in the frame being equal in quality to their outstanding lenses.
