GUCCI

Founded in 1921 by Guccio Gucci in Florence, Italy, this brand began as a leather luggage designer, then moved on to handbags, ready-to-wear clothing collections, footwear, accessories, home decor, fragrance, cosmetics….and glasses.

During WWII, the already well-established Gucci factory was used to manufacture boots for the Italian Infantry. In the 1990s, Tom Ford (now a designer and film director in his own right) was appointed Gucci’s creative director. Later, in the 2010s, the brand became known for its ‘Geek chic’ appeal.

Throughout the long history of Gucci, the global tagline “Quality is remembered long after price is forgotten” has remained relevant.

The famous trademark GG symbol and red and green bands featured in Gucci’s branding of clothing, accessories and handbags, can also be found across the range of ophthalmic frames and sunglasses…some subtle and some much more “out there”.
